A social enterprise enrolled on the CAN³ programme has been shortlisted for ‘Consumer Facing Social Enterprise’ in the UK Social Enterprise Awards.
Change Please train homeless people to become baristas on its coffee carts based throughout London.
The organisation also helps its staff with housing, bank accounts and future employment.
Hosted by Social Enterprise UK, The UK Social Enterprise Awards takes place annually to ‘recognise organisations for their business excellence and contribution to society, as well as the achievements of people working at the heart of the sector.’
In July 2016, Change Please won a competition to receive support from the CAN Invest team and the CAN³ programme to accelerate its growth and social impact. It then moved into CAN Mezzanine, Borough to begin the programme. The budding social enterprise has since benefitted from bespoke mentoring from third sector experts and business advisory support from CAN Invest.
In the same year that it enrolled onto the CAN³ programme, Change Please received ‘The One to Watch’ award- ‘For a social enterprise that can clearly articulate their future vision and how they are going to achieve it’, at the UK Social Enterprise Awards 2016.
The awards will be held on the evening of Thursday 23rd November in central London.
